Mist Transmit Power Converter

Convert between Juniper Mist UI per-chain power, Hamina Total Conducted Power, and Ekahau TPO for equivalent EIRP. Enter any value — others update automatically.

How to use this tool

Juniper Mist, Hamina, and Ekahau each express access point transmit power differently. This tool converts a single power level between all three so you can move a design value from one platform to another without it silently meaning something different.

The three representations are: Mist UI — per-chain conducted power, with no MIMO gain included (this is what you type into the Mist portal); Hamina / Ekahau TPO — Total Conducted Power, i.e. per-chain power plus MIMO gain; and EIRP — the radiated equivalent, TPO plus antenna gain.

The relationships are: MIMO gain = 10·log₁₀(Tx chains), TPO = Mist UI + MIMO gain, and EIRP = TPO + antenna gain.

To use it:

  1. Select your AP model — this sets the chain count and antenna gain (external-antenna variants let you enter your own gain).
  2. Select the band (2.4 / 5 / 6 GHz), since chain count and gain differ per band.
  3. Enter a value in any one of the Mist UI, Hamina / Ekahau, or EIRP fields — the other two update automatically. Each accepts dBm or mW.

The Regulatory compliance panel shows the EIRP ceiling for the selected band across regulatory domains, as a reference. Always verify limits against the relevant regulatory authority and your AP's country certification before applying power settings.
